This was one of his many sad moments as he would later recall. The call for life waits for no one, and the hardships made him move to Monticello. At the age of 12, Alfonso learned to work hard and also to find enjoyment in the valleys of Utah. Alfonso did a lot of moving. Finally he married Pablita Martinez in La Mesa de Poleo, New Mexico. The first light of his life was a baby boy, Herman, followed by William, Nick, Julian and his first girl, Yvonne. Alfonso decided to take his family and move once again. They settled in Moab, the place of his dreams. Here, his other little light, Crissy, his adopted daughter, came into his life. This did not replace his son, Herman, but Alfonso never looked for replacements. Alfonso worked in the valley of Moab since 1974 for the mines, the schools and the motels. He also filled in for movies made in Moab. He worked for many other people in the valley who loved and respected him dearly. Alfonsos kids gave him 18 grandchildren, whom he dearly loved, and also seven family of Dale Youngblood truly appreciates all the love and kindness that was shown to us in our time of need. We would like to thank everyone for the food, cards, flowers, phone calls and visits. Special thanks go out to the Moab Diner, Moab 1st Ward, and Comfort Suites. And to our neighbors for their continued support. We would also like to thank the ambulance crew, police and hospital for their professionalism and now-marri- house, cleaning his yard and helping around the kitchen. He lost a lot of weight but he never lost his smile. Everyone was always welcome in his home, and he always had a happy story or two to tell. He passed away in Grand Junction on Jan. 28, 2005. Services were at the Assembly of God Church on Feb. 2, with interment in Grand Valley Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, of Moab, sons, Herman, William and Nick, of Moab; Julian and wife Paula of Palisade, Colo.; daughters Yvonne and husband Darien Marx of Clifton, Colo., Crissy and husband Richard Romero of Clifton, Colo.
