She was born in the country, at home, July 17, 1927, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to Ray and Thetna Hudspeth Yeager. Her father was of German heritage and her mothers heritage was Ogalala Sioux of which Ruth was always very proud. She was educated at The Red Cloud Indian School which was a distance from her home and in order to go to school she had to live away from home and family. "N. ' Her family raised cattle, sheep and horses on their farm. Ruth had four sisters and they all learned to work at a very young age. Riding horses was always a favorite pastime for Ruth. Ruth spent many hours of each day working beside her grandfather and learning from him, she loved him very much. He died when he was 108. As Ruth grew up there was always lots of hard work, but there was always food on the table. When Ruth was 15 she moved to Cuba, New Mexico and then on to Clearfield, Utah where she worked for the Navy at Ship Service. There she met Slickrock Cinemas 3 sold out with attendance at 129 and Saturday screenings at Star Hall drawing over 100 excited film and video enthusiasts. Spring wedding films, Joes Wedding (Michael Kennedy Director, Appealing Productions) and The Scottish Tale (Robert Mack Polhemus Director, Polhemus Pictures), as well as video projections Burning Man (Trent Harris) and Terribilita (Mark Foster), appeared to be some of the audience favorites. This year the festival had the honor of filmmakers Lee Bridgers (Pieces), Robert Mack Polehemus (The Scottish Tale) and Trent Harris (Burning Man), being on hand to discuss their works with the audience. Out of the 50 entries received other films screened included Out of This World (Holly Du Rivage), Hero Sandwich (Happy Trails Animation), Lola (Steven Cowie), The Ultimate Dive (Suzanne Girot, Gyro Pro- ductions), Eldorado (Frank Green, Green T.V.), Los Perdidos (Leo Amao) and Bullets Through My Window (Kids Witness News Team, Public School 41) and Darkhorses (John Howard). According to Festival Director Nicholas Brown, with Country Pumpkin Productions, every year things seem to improve exponentially and this year was no exception. Im pleased with the way the festival went, the support for this festival is obvious and growing. After moving to Moab they raised their 8 children and 1 adopted son together. Ruth also served many children in the role of foster parent. Ruth dearly loved her family and her children Manuel died in 1985. In April of 1990 Ruth married David Gallegos. Ruth will be remembered by her loving kind nature. No one ever went to her home and went away hungry. She was a mom to everyone and made everyone feel comfortable. She never had a mean word for anyone and her family remembers her saying, If you cant say something good, She dont say anything at all will be missed by family and friends. Ruth is survived by her husband Dave of Moab, sisters Nellie, Freda and Mary, sons Larry (Mary) Velasquez, Donald (Melody) Velasquez, Celestino Velasquez and daughters Linda (Tony) Montoya, Cleo (Wayne) Snow, Vicki (Kelly) Skow, Freda (Larry) Hill. 20 grandchildren and 8 She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel and a sister Edna and two sons Johnny and Ricky. The assembly theme, Be persons taught by Jehovah,1 helped the 1,088 attending to focus on the blessings that are enjoyed by persons taught by Jehovah God said Clark. The highlight of the p gram was the public talk taught by Jehovah to do His will. It stressed reasons why all of us need to keep learning, to be stabilized in the faith and to continue making advancement.
