Bagley pled j , Elmer "Tug" Daniels Military rites here Monday for Elmer Daniels Elmer Lindsey Tug Daniels of Moab, died April 16, 1997, of a heart attack. He was 77 years of age. was born February 14,1920, in Telluride, Colorado, to Sanford and Esther Kaanta Daniels. Tug grew up in Telluride and in Nucla, Colorado. He did farm work and played baseball as a youth, and graduated from jNucla High School in 1938. He served in the US Army for six months and was discharged to work in the vital Uranium industry during World War II. Tug was later reinstated into the military and volunteered for the Special Forces where he trained as a paratrooper. He was injured in a final training jump prior to his company being sent overseas'for the Normandy invasion. Tug spent nearly two years in the Veterans Hospital before being discharged from the Army again. Tug worked in the mining and milling industry throughout his adult life. He mined independently and worked in mills in Naturita, Colorado; Slickrock, Colorado; Tuba City, Arizona;1 Weiser, Idaho, and Moab. He also spent two years in Peru working at a mine in the Andes mountains. Two areas occupied virtually all of Tugs time and energy - his work and his family. He married Else Marie Burfiend in Yuma, Arizona, on May 4, 1947. They j " raised eight children together, four sons and four daughters. Tug was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Else were honored by the Little League organization at Tuba City for their leadership in developing a youth baseball program in the community. Else died in Moab on November 8, 1979. Tug prided himself on his knowledge of chemistry and mathematics pertaining to mill work. The sentences came as a result of an investigation conducted by the Special Agents of Utah Bureau of Land Management. Damages to the site were estimated at approximately $11,000. U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Greene, who imposed the sentences last Wednesday, said he was impressed with both men s contriteness, and said he would agree to terminate proba- courses in algebra, calculus, organic and inorganic chemistry. He married Betty Koskinen in 1982. Together they enjoyed recreational bowling. Betty died in March 1985. Tug was blessed with a third happy marriage when he and Billie Jo Carter joined hands and hearts on June 17, 1989, in Moab. This marriage added Billies granddaughter Chris and husband Don Woodard to his large family. Tug was preceded in death his first wife, Else Marie by Daniels, his second wife, Betty Koskinen; by his son Patrick D. Daniels, and by one sister and three brothers. Elmer Tug Daniels is survived by his brother, L.A. Pat Daniels of Nucla, Colorado; his children, Coralee Lindberg of Lewiston, ID, daughter-in-law- , Nancy Daniels of Emmett, ID. Ester Gilmore (George) of Wasilla, AK, Mike Daniels (Cindy) of Riverton, UT, Eric Daniels (Danielle) of Shelley, 1:D, Lt. Cmdr (Navy ret.) Kevin of Daniels (Carmela) o grandchildren; two five nephews and one niece. A military ceremony was n, held at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery at 9 a.m. on April 21. Services were held at the Moab Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Cremation was to follow with the remains interred in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Forstall was sentenced to pay $1,700 on charges of driving on revocation and no insurance. Donald C. Lammert failed to appear on charges of improper expired registration and no insurance. A warrant of arrest with bail of $622 was issued for Thomas Revas, who failed to appear on charges of speeding and driving on suspension.
