Show 20 September 1 6, 1 999 SPORTS BRIEFS Volksmarch Saturday Outdoor Recreation will be sponsoring a Volksmarch Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. The event is sanctioned by the American Volksport Association, and participants will start the course from the Officers' Club. Distances of 5K and 10K will be available. Registration fees are $6 for preregstration and $7 the day of the event. Participants can sign up at Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 524, the Family Support Center, Bldg. 308N or the Officers' Club, Bldg. 150. For additional information, contact Al Stone at Ext. Demolition derby set The Morgan County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, along with the Morgan Lions Club, will host a demoli- tion derby Saturday at 7 p.m. at the county fairgrounds in Morgan. Proceeds benefit the Search and Rescue and Lions Club. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for children. No large coolers will be allowed. Call for more details. 801-965-69- 44 annual Youth Hunting Day Sept. 25 beginning at 8 a.m. Youths may take ducks, geese, coots and mergansers and must stay within general season limits, which this year includes not more than four scaups in the daily 0 bag. The daily bag limit is seven ducks, includtwo not more than hen mallards, one pintail, two ing redheads, one canvasback and four scaups. The daily goose bag limit has been increased to three this year. Most of the state will be open to youth hunting on Sept 25. The only area closed will be the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge west of Brigham City. To be eligible for the hunt, youths must be ages 12 to 15, possess a Wildlife Habitat Authorization if required, possess a small game or combination license and be accompanied by their parent or an adult that is at least age 21. The adult may not hunt or possess a firearm and must supervise the youths they take. Scuba class offered The Hess Fitness Center will be offering a scuba class 3 at pool 1. For the Explore Scuba class, Sept. the cost is $15. The cost for the certification course is $259, which will include books and basic gear. Students must provide a mask, fins, snorkel, booties and any additional fees at the dive location. This is a natural competition, and drug testing will be performed on 10 percent of the competitors selected at random. The event is open to all registered U.S. Powerlifting Federation competitors; however, those interested may register at the meet. USPG cards are $25, $10 for high school age and Special Olympians. The meet fee is $35 for those wishing to compete in just one event, $55 for both bench and deadlift.
