Show September 16, 1999 Cancer survivor day starts with fun run A Fun Run, starting and finishing at the Hill Clinic, will kick off Cancer Survivor Day activities Saturday. "Celebration of Life" is the theme for the second annual observance, sponsored by the Hill Cancer Survivor's Group. The events are designed to honor, remember and recognize cancer survivors and their loved ones. Registration for the Fun Run, sponsored by the 75th Medical Group, is from 8 am. at the Hill Clinic's ambulance bay, Bldg. 570. The $5 entry fee includes a com7-- memorative T-shi- rt activities include playing ofthe National Anthem and a motivational warm-u- p led by Capt. Nina Perino, Jazzercise instructor and a member of the 75th Medical Group. The Fun Run is open to all community Pre-rac- e members and participants can run, walk or bring wheelchairs or strollers on the course. All participants are eligible for prize drawings, which include a bicycle. Winners must be present at the drawing. The luncheon runs until 1 p.m. "We're going to celebrate our Air Force's 52nd birthday and have a birthday cake and a buffet" said MSgt. Oscar Mendoza. "On top of celebrating the Air Force's Birthday we have a World War II theme going and we're raising some funds for the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Therefore, what we would like, is for people to pay their $7.95 for lunch and, if they'd like, we'll accept donations of say $5 for the memorial. In addition, everything is going to be decorated in red, white and blue so we're going to have a very patriotic theme." The white raspberry-filled cakes will be decorated with Air the Force logo. Club members who purchase lunch with their club card will need to make a donation with a separate check or cash. Those paying by check should make it out to the NCOA they'll give the luncheon cost to the Officers' Club and forward donations to the World War II Memorial. A drawing will be held for a gas grill, donated by a local business, at the end of the ceremony.
