In between Green Flag and Maple Flag, the Black Widows will host B-- 1 B Lancer aircraft Friday through April 1 6. "The B-will conduct composite force training with F-- 1 F-5s and 1 6s as part of their weapons school training," said Capt. Tim Butcher, 421st FS pilot. "However, the wing's involvement in actual training with the B-will be limited. We're essentially providing the ramp space and facilities for the students as they practice advanced combat tactics." The 34th FS 'Rams' will support the Weapons Instructor Course at Nellis Monday through April 23 . The Rams will take 14 jets and approximately 125 airmen to Nevada to perform dissimilar combat training against F-- 1 5 aircraft. Wing members will get yet another opportunity to fine tune their mobilization skills with the planned Phase I Operational Readiness Exercise slated for May The exercise will begin after wing leaders receive strategic warning of an impending deployment. "The wing will receive a strategic warning order of the impending AEF deployment for the ORE," said Lt. Col. Hugo Horstman, 388th FW commander's assistant. "Higher headquarters will follow with an execute order which will begin the process." All wing members filling Unit Type Codes in support of the scheduled Air Expeditionary Force deployment in October will process through the mobility line, according to Colonel Horstman. "Clearly, the 42 1 st FS will play a large role in the May exercise since they will provide the primary assets for the fall deployment," said Colonel Horstman. "As part of the exercise, we will regenerate the aircraft and have the pilots fly a combat training mission over the Utah Test and Training Range." 75th Air Base Wing personnel will join members of the 388th FW in both the upcoming exercise and AEF-- 1 .
