In final reality, however, you and your partner must make the tough choice. You are ultimately responsible for the marriage. You, alone, are the ones that have to daily live with the decision. As you make your choices, remain as open and receptive as you can. Take your time and be objectively sure. Don't cut off those that are concerned for you. Rather, take the time to sit down with your objecting family and friends an hear them out. Carefully compare their observations with your own. After talking, if major differences still exist, seek the help of still another family member or friend. If you hear them saying a similar thing, watch out! They may have hit upon your blind spot. Finally, don't be afraid to seek professional counseling. A few sessions of talking with a chaplain or counselor may keep you from making a mistake of a lifetime. In these difficult days, you need all the support you can muster, especially from those who mean the most to you. When it is absent, it needs to be pursued. Do everything in your means to make it hap-peWhen family members and friends feel good about the relationship and support it, the relationship is all the stronger. Not only will the relationship be a happier one, it is proven that it has a much better chance of success as well.
