In addition to the San Juan School District and the College of Eastern Utah, participants include other universities from across the state and various trade and industry groups. The participating retail stores discount the shoe certificates to KSL and the State of Utah, allowing KSL to buy more shoes with the donations. Organizations sponsoring families may use the shoe certificates as well as welfare recipients if there is an obvious need. Contributions to "Quarters for Christmas" come from the western United States and Canada in forms ranging from pennies in jars to checks from corporations.
