It's impossible not to notice when you sit down and do a budthere's this huge expense get item in there for the arena," stated Bill Hedden. "What I would like to see is an actual proposal that comes in from somebody who says, 'I'd be willing to ' buy it, and this is what I'd like to pay.' Then we would weigh those things." In other business, the council honored Dale Oviatt for more than 30 years service in the County Road Department. Dale, who retired November 1, was presented an official with proclamation expressing the county's appreciation for his work. Oviatt began working for the county in 1964, as an equipment operator. He soon became a mechanic and functioned for the last decade as assistant supervisor. Chess match with Grand Jet The Moab Chess Club challenged the Grand Junction Chess Club to a match which took place last weekend. Although the rating of the two teams were close, the Grand Junction club brought much more experience to the match and it showed. They won by a large margin, giving the Moab club a big incentive to prepare for next year's match. There were a few highlights for the Moab team, however. Damian Baumgardner won both of his games against Grand Junction's top board, and Jason Pratt and Chris Kauffman each broke even against four tough opponents in the quick chess tournament which followed the match. The Moab Chess Club will not meet on Thursday, which is Thanksgiving, but will resume at a different time the following Thursday, December 1. The club will continue to meet at the Center Court Restaurant. 259-444- 1 Movies Effective Ea.
