Iron Mission Days is held each November, during the week Cedar City celebrates its birthday. Cedar City is 143 year old in 1994. This years Iron Mission Days will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our activities will focus on pioneer skills and crafts, We everyday skills our pioneer fathers used, said Park Manager Norm Forbush. Demonstrations will include rug weaving, wool spinning, quilting, flint napping, and candle making. This local patrol was the result of a brainstorm by Tim Blumenthal, ' Executive Direcor ofr the International Mountain Biking Assn. (IMBA). The biggest attraction at the museum is the parks extensive collection of horse-draw- n vehicles, one of the largest in the western United States. The collection includes a 1890 stagecoach, which legend says was held up by Butch Cassidys gang, and a one-horopen sleigh. The parks two pioneer cabins will be open, with interpreters available to provide information about the cabins and the people who lived in them. One of the cabins, the George Wood cabin, was built in Parowan in 1851 and is the only surviving pioneer cabin in southwestern Utah. One of the interpreters in the cabins, Mike Sherratt, will be dressed in full mountain man attire and will bullet-r- iddled se with visitors about the ovens. talk Visitors can also watch pioneer engines, small steam powered American fur trade era, which lasted from 1826 to 1838.
