The Hall of Fame is constructing a Western Street Facade on the east side of the facility, incorporating some of the memorabilia of Moab, including the two- wheeled wagon that was used in the John Wayne movie, "The and the gate entrance that was used in the film, "Sundown the Vampire in Retreat," filmed last October. The public is invited to come and enjoy what the Hall of Fame has to offer and to bring cameras to take pictures posing in front of the movie set. Com-manchero- s," Film Commission was involved in seminar by Bette L. Stanton The 1989 Cineposium, sponsored by the Association of Film Com- missioners International (AFCI), proved very beneficial to MFC members attending the event in Park City. The AFCI has a membership of over 200 film commissions from around the world. Canada, Austria, Germany, Africa, and the Bahamas were among the foreign countries represented at the Cineposium. During the five day affair, MFC President Larry Campbell, Vice President Jim Kelly, board member Robbie Swasey and Director Bette Stanton had the opportunity to view how other film commissions are operating. Cineposium workshops included marketing, budget and finance, time management, protecting your community, press procedures, and trouble shooting. During the sessions, film commissioners from city, county, state and foreign countries shared with one another their problems and successes. MFC was not only the oldest film commission, but represented the smallest population at the Cineposium. One of the highlights of the event was the new mentor program developed by the AFCI, which pairs up new commissions with older commissions. The new film commission can then call a more experienced commission when there is a problem or they need advice. In response to a survey conducted by the AFCI, US film commissioners reported some interesting facts as t how they operate. Of the 94 US film commissions responding, 90 are funded by a government entity with 38 of the funds coming from hotelmotel tax, and 9 receive their financing through the private sector, i.e., fund raisers, contributions, membership dues, and Chambers of Commerce. Two film commissions received funds from restaurant tax and several were funded by a combination of city, county, state and private, just as MFC has been supported for the past five years. Of those reporting, 94 maintain economic impact figures to help justify their budget. However, 34 use a multiplier when reporting and "3" was the most popular multiplier The Devil Makes Three War and Peace ffl Witch Who Turned Pink A green witch mysteriously turns pink one Halloween.
