Show A6 The Times-lndependen- Thursday, March 6, 1986 t, Mrs. Utah to Education: The Basis for our Future' theme for GCHS Career Day March 10 Education: The Basis for Our Future, is the theme selected for Career Day, March 10th, at Grand County High School. There will be more than twenty variations on that theme as volunteer speakers talk about their personal career paths. All those speakers started out from the same point; a seat in their local high school classrooms. That was the beginning of their career journeys: Education. 'i Regular morning classes at GCHS will be suspended on Monday, March 10, as teachers turn over their classrooms to other professionals in the fields of social services, aviation electronics, interior design, range management, Smile Awhile architecture, cos- health care, computers, advertising, newspaper reporting and promotion, law enforcement, fast food management, office assistance and management, natural resource interpretation and tourist enterprise, among others. Attendance is required at the high school for Career Day and all students and teachers will have their choice of listening to any five speakers during the morning. A sixth period will provide an opportunity to question speakers informally. Luncheon will be served in the Home Economics room for the guest speakers after all participants contribute their comments in an evaluation session. Students have plenty of opportunity to learn about Career Day speakers ahead of time by reading the individual resumes which are posted at the high school. Moab engraver won recognition Sam Welch, firearms engraver from Moab, was recognized by the Firearms Engravers Guild of America at the National Custom Gun Show held in Las Vegas in early February. to Welch was named runner-u- p the Best of Show for his entry in the engraving competition in which HMK, PTA and the special help of the Utah Highway Patrol, we were able to have a visit from Trooper Tron. While here they enjoyed rock hunting and visiting other relatives. Lee Oyler is Director of Rocky Mountain State federation and have been in Moab to rock shows several times. They plan to come back to Moab for the rock show this fall. Tron will be in Grand and San Juan Counties all this week. Mrs. Utah is planning on running in the Canyonlands scheduled for Moab Saturday, March 22. She will be available during that weekend to speak to any church or club groups who may be interested. She is scheduled to speak at the Senior Citizens luncheon Friday, March 7th. LUNCHEON MEETING The February Business and Professional Womens Luncheon was held at the SunDowner, with Pres. Anne Marie Fender presiding. Young Career Girl was discussed. Chairman Beulah Anderson gave a report on Woman of the Year. The Southeastern Sparing District Meeting will be held in Moab at a 12:00 noon luncheon on April 26th at the SunDowner Restaurant. The State Officers will conduct a meeting at 1:00 with election of officers. The Young Career Woman will speak and the Woman of the Year will be honored, and new elected officers will be installed. The March meeting will feature the Young Career Woman, and Woman of the Year. Meetings are held the last Wednesday of the month.
