Members of the U.E.A. all over Utah are very upset with the legislature because they arent receiving enough funds for their educational needs. Last Friday a questionairre was sent ground to the teachers at G.C.H.S. asking for their opinion on what they would like to participate ip, and to show the legislature that they are not kidding this time. consisted of: Participate in a protest walkout in the spring of 86, or protest a walkout in fall of have a statewide strike in the fall of For those teachers not wanting to participate in any of the above, they could: Not strike at all, work just to contract during the next school year, or return to work this fall without a contract. Students had different feelings about this issue. Barb Hill, junior, said, If the teachers go on strike I dont think that it would be fair to the students. I understand the teachers point of view, but that is why theyre here, so they can teach the students. Beverly Shupe thinks that the teachers should go on strike Of course she is a in the fall of senior and this wouldnt effect her at all. The younger students dont want the teachers to go on strike because that would mean they would have to make up their credits that they missed during the strike. Mr. Hillman, a strong member of the U.E.A. , said, I dont want to go on strike, but I will. He also said that he would feel bad if the strike happened and it caused students not to graduate, but he doesnt seem to think that it will happen. for showing their kindness and understanding during our time of sorrow.
