Herald: There is probably not one American who does not wish the President full and speedy recovery from his recent illness. However, one cannot help of being impressed by the size of the team of physicians and the availability of facilities and support teams that aid the President in his recovery. It is quite clear that to the average or not so average American a line up of health teams of that size is not available, or better to say, not affordable. In fact, most elderly Americans are in danger of losing life's savings and even possessions by only one major illness. While those of us who sweat out .S5T a proctoscopic examination alone, when the body is attempting in vain to escape the inevitably adv- ancing tube, one can imagine the support personnel available to a President of the U.S. To the rest of us there is only comfort in the words of the Lord when he said: "... remember all these things are for your own good." One is wondering if the President emerges out of his ordeal with greater sympathy for the need of upgrading the Medicare and Medicaid programs for the elderly and less fortunate Americans. Roland K. Editor, Herald: have been sadly amused by the managers uproar over Coca-Col- a changing the formula and now they are having the original come back I on the market, because of the public outcry. We Americans are a strange breed: all that hullabaloo over a soft drink, when at least once a week we read in the newspapers or see on television how the government is being cheated out of millions of dollars by our defense contractors, and pity the poor fool that reports this to his or her superior.
