The contract, which is the 17th revision, was presented Thursday afternoon by a negotiation team from the U.S. Bureau of Reclama- ?r tion. i T 1 f ..... t 1 1 Voteis originally approved a $165 million contract for the Central Utah Project, but with increased costs, the supplemental contract has been under negotiation to pay for $335 million in addition. Deborah Link, BOR attorney, and Lavar Richman, negotiator, said the latest contract version removes all reference to a subsidy from power revenues of the municipal and industrial part of the project. Ed Clyde, the CUWCD attorney, pointed out that the district had hoped for some relief in the $335 million repayment costs from the sale of power. "It doesn't look like we're going to get that relief, so the wording should be removed from the contract. Don Christiansen, CUWCD manager, indicated he hoped to have it ready for final approval by the board at its Aug. 8 meeting. Dorothy Harvey, coordinator of the Intermountain Water Alliance, an organization that is critical of the Central Utah Project, said she could see nothing in the contract that would allow for the costs to be reduced if the Provo Bay Dike, the Goshen Bay Dike and other parts of the project are not built. Clyde said those parts of the project are still under negotiation and will be handled when the time comes.
