May 24, 1884 Legal Notices Legal Notices Legal Notices Germany Indicts Dealers of Forged Hitler Diaries HAMBURG, West Germany Authorities Wednesday indicted a reporter lor Stern mag-aiin- e and an antiques dealer who allegedly sold the forged diairies of Nazi leader Adolph Hitler to Stern magazine, the Justice Department said. A spokesman said the trial of Germany as Jie told Stern. Neverthless, he kept silent about this and continued to deliver diaries and get paid, the indictment said. Heidemann, who has been fired by Stern, has denied he had any part in a conspiracy to defraud (UPI) the magazine. But Kujau has boasted of producing forgeries that fooled such eminent historians as Hugh Trevor Roper, an English authority on the Nazi era and author of "The Last Days of Hitler." The indictment charged Kujau with collecting $595,000 from Heidemann for the diaries. Of the $3.5 million Stern gave Heidemann, $2.3 million still is unaccounted for, the Hamburg prosecutors office said. Heidemann met Kujau at his shop in Stuttgart where he sold Nazi mementos. Stern in its own report on the scandal described him as an liar, swindler and poseur who often went pub crawling in an old Nazi SS uniform and would spend large amounts of money on bar girls. Heidemann bought the yacht that once belonged to Luftwaffe chief Hermann Goering and corresponded with Barbie before the man known as the "Butcher of Lyon" was extradicted to France from Bolivia to face charges of murdering Jews and French underground resistance fighters. reporter Gerd Heidemann and Konrad Kujau, the confessed forger, probably will begin in Au- gust. They were indicted 13 months after the weekly picture magazine Stern began to publish the diaries that caused a stir around the world until they were proven to be fakes. Newsweek magazine also published excerpts from the diaries. A Hamburg state court ac- cepted a state prosecutor's charges against Heidemann and Kujau made March 21 and its decision opened the way for their trial, the Hamburg Justice Department spokesman said. The indictment charged that Heidemann embezzled $651,000 of the $3.5 million he received from the magazine to buy the diaries between January 1981 until the end of April 1983. old HeideIt said the mann, who used to correspond with Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, had known at least by the summer of 1981 that the 60 diary volumes were forgeries and had not been smuggled out of East anti-Semit- e, Dr. Lamb NOTICE TO CREDITORS the City and County Buildand PUBLIC NOTICE ana Center ing, University ANNOUNCEMENT it hereoy given of Streeti. What causes anemia? What kind of tests are made? Is medication prescribed for anemia? Most of all, is it serious? With the DEAR READER type of examination you probably had the two tests that were most likely used to find your anemia were the hemoglobin and the he- - - 1 Anemia tain enough iron, the test will indicate this. Finding the anemia is just the beginning. Then you have to find the type of anemia. Some are from a deficiency. An anemia may be quite important if it's caused by some unrecognized problem that causes bleeding, such a3 an ulcer. The hematocrit simply measures how much of your blood is made up of blood cells and how much is fluid (plasma). If there aren't enough red blood cells present the value will be low. It's literally a way of counting how many red blood cells you have. The hemoglobin test simply measures the iron pigment present in the hemoglobin pigment in your red blood cells.
