She was born in the fam- V . loving family 19, 2002. He died of Cancer, lie wan horn to Charles Kllio and Mary Ann Taylor on April 17, 1944, in Boonville, Missouri. He married his cherished June companion Susan Nan Zvaru in the Rummer of HH4 and later they were sealed in the Oakland, California LDS Temple. His life was filled with low and service for his family, friends and church. He was truly grateful for the awesome relationship he had with family and friends. He loved and enjoyed spending time with all 1 1 grandchildren. They enjoyed going to museums, movies, snow skiing, and happy meals at McDonalds. He also enjoyed snow skiing and golfing with dear friends, And don't forget the Jazz; he tried to never miss u game. He was a retired Facilities Manager for the Prove Kast H'M Group for The Church of Jesus Christ of bitter-daSaints. He was liked and well respected by all that knew him. He held many callings in the church. One of his favorites wuh working'with the young men of his ward, le truly had a great, love for those young men. They tin) will miss him. Taylor. J wns born in v Coming, Iowa on September 22, 1916 to Allert Frunk Shinkle and Myr 1 tle May Brandon. He grew up and wmmumjammmmmmmm attended school in Creston, Iowa. In 1939, Harvey joined the Army fAir Corps. After basic training ut Chnnute Field in Illinois, he served with the 7th Reconnaissance Squadron in Guatemala, Peru, and Panama during World War II. After nearly three years in the tropics, he returned to the states and was stationed at Davis Monthnn Field in Tucson, Arizona. Harvey's parents moved to Provo, Utah in 1941 when his father was employed in the construction of the Geneva Steel plant. While on leave to visit his family in Utah in November 1943, he met Merelda Ivie. They were married in Provo on February 4, 1944. At the end of the war, they moved to Glen- - ' dule, California where Harvey was discharged and attended the American School of Aircraft Instruments, In 1947, they returned to Utah where Harvey found employment at Geneva Steel as an electrician and motor inspector. They bought land in Orem, and Harvey and Merelda began building their own home, planting fruit trees and gardens, and raising their four children. Shinkle passed away after a long illness on June 21, 2002 at his home in Orem, Utah ot age 85. Ho was a resident of Orem for 55 S years. Hurvey inun years She worked on genealogy for tmth sides of the family and made at least 2 Itouks of Remembrance each for her husband, her self and each of her 8 children, and Patterson and Nellie Klir abeth SUine l'atterson. In 19.1(1 the, family moved to n farm her parents purchased in Salem, Utah. While living in this small peaceful town she nrquind many happy memories of family, home and childhood activities. She attended Salem Elemonfary.'Jr, High School, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School and l.DS Seminary. She attended LI )S Business ' College in Salt bike City, and worked as a stenographer at the Lyric Theater (formerly Pioneer Playhouse). Utter she attended BYU where she met her sweetheart John Daniel Jensen. They married in the Manti LDS Temple, 15 September 194H. Her life was one of devoted service to God, to her husband and , children, her parents, her and others She knew that God our Father lives and thai Jesus Christ is our Savior. In good times and hard times she had faith in their love and in their worrl. She liked to teach the Gosol of Jesus Christ. She served as a Kolob Stake Missionary with her husband. She taught in the primary and relief society organizations lor A. with a loving smile and open arms. After high school he served as a radar operator on the USS Lang-lil- t in the United Stales Navy during WWII. AJlor the war Don returned to his wife and family and started working for Central Utah Imple- menl Co. as a nlochanir working on John Deere farm equipment. He then worked fur US Steel at the Geneva plant for .'10 years where he was u supervisor in the Open Hearth. After retiring from Geneva he drove truck for Brother's Trucking. Don was active in his community where ho served as the mayor of Salem und served twice us the Fire Chief of the Salem Volunteer Fire Department during his many Chris-loose- n years of service, He was active in the can party serving us chairman, and a county dele-- " gate He wns also a memlier of the American U'gion where he enjoyed honoring his fellow veterans by serving in the honor guard. Im enjoyed spending time with his family camping, hunting, fishing and watching sporting events. He wus a great example of n devoted husband und father. Don was a faithful member of Tho Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints and served in many positions including serving the I'rnvo Temple. He left fighting June 21, 2002. He was doing what he loved best, gelling ready for football season. The doctors said his heart was too large, but all his family and friends know that his chest was ,. just too small. He was born November 24, 1984. He was his mom's best pal and his big sister's best friend in the whole world. He lived in Germany, American Fork und Salt Lake City. He loved his little sister Emily dearly and was so proud of his little brother Spencer. His little sister Amanda pussed away when he was 4 years old. We know that he is now teaching her all the basics of football just us he did for his fumily, especially his mom who never understood why the linemen would want to chase after him when ho had the bull. He attended Shelly and Emer- - son Element ary Schools, Clayton Jr. High and was getting ready t start his senior year at East , V"1 " High School He 1 ' memorable family trips becume a source of special relationships and lasting memories. They also loved lo travel and camp together und passed along a love of camping and of the outdoors to their children and grandchildren. After their children were grown, they continued their cumping activities with many of their friends in the Utah Sunburst Sams (Good Sams Organization), and they enjoyed KV camping during many Utah winters in Quartzile, Arizona. Harvey's sense of humor was g enjoyed by many friends. Harvey was preceded in death by his younger brother, Leo Wayne Shinkle of Scottsdale, Arizona, and by a grandson; Joseph Cain, He is survived by his wife Merelda; by two sons Eldon (Ruth) Shinkle of Tooele, Utah and Les (Nanette) Shinkle of Idaho Falls, Iduho; and g by two daughters Gail (Paul) of Federal Way, Washington, and Kathleen (Fred) Cain of Orem, Utah; by 21 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25 at 1 1 a.m. at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center St., Provo. He had a special way of passing that appreciation to others. He was very Involved In the scouting program, He loved snowmoblllng, and in that realm was considered by some "the youngest 58 year old" they knew. He always made time for his family and has provided a lifetime of wonderful memories for them and all his friends.
