Crews reopened a major Seattle road blocked by eight feet of mudslide muck and more than a foot of snow threatened to start avalanches in Idaho. At least seven deaths were blamed on rain, winds, ice and snow around the nation during the weekend. A storm that hammered the South with tornadoes, high winds and heavy rain Sunday created tornadoes in southern Florida and continued to pour rain on the eastern C'arolinas today. Two people, including an elderly man. were seriously hurt and two others slightly , injured when a twister leveled three mobile homes near Arcadia, Fla. The Utah Highway Patrol said snow fell heavily over Parley's Summit and several cars slid off the highways as plowing and sanding crews cleared the highway. "It's very slippery and icy and it's snowing bad over the summit," a UHP dispatcher said. "The roads are really bad and it's really slick." for Logan and Sardine canyons were also snowpacked and slick and Bountiful reported accumulations of snow early today. But the snow melted upon hitting the ground in most valley locations, except on the benches, where an inch or two was expected to accumulate ' "Snowfall amounts over the mountains will likely be in the six- - to nine-inc- h range today from this storm," the National Weather Service said. "Areas of blowing and drifting snow can also be expected, with visibilities reduced to near zero at times."
