Rules Zoning Proposed By ROBERT MCDOUGAIX The Provo City planning commission examined a new zoning ordinance, and approved several applications for review of plans during Wednesday night's meeting. The new zoning ordinance revises vario? zones in the city and tightens procedures of zoning administration. The city planning advisory board agreed to meet in work sessions to study ti.e new ordinance before it is sent to the city commission for final approval. City planner Jerry Howell said the zone changes will create relatively few uses because uses allowed in the various zones are as lenient or more lenient than the previous ones were. , Mr. Howell said copies of the new ordinance are available for consultation in the city's to real estate groups and interested developers, he said. He also said the outlook for winter heating oil supplies was much brighter than previously anticipated. "We are not now planning to implement the mandatory program at any specific time in the foreseeable future," he said. Love said he believes a mandatory program has "significant flaws both philosoph ically and practically. "It runs the very great risk of reducing, not increasing the available supply of fuels," he said. As for the winter outlook. Love said of heating oil: "If all goes weli, we should be able to avoid serious shortages." "More precisely." he said, "the supply situation will be dose but adequate if we have normal winter weather, continued high refinery output, and imports comparable to last year's peak levels; the situation maybe serious if we experience a severely cold winter, regardless of our success in production and imports, " Last month, Nixon proposed a series of steps, mostly voluntary curbs to reduce the drain on energy supplies. These included asking motorists to drive more slowly; the use of smaller cars; reduced air conditioning in government buildings during the hot summer and other consumer voluntary steps to ease the p --ssure on dwindling supplies. ai"MshaP By RON BARKER The Forest Service has found some inconsistencies in its first draft of a proposed land use plan Holts Traffic the for At Am.
