Show .a Section 2 Boys track and field moves ahead, despite bad weather As with all spring sports,1 boys high school track has gotten off to a bit of a shaky start locally due to the weather. Even schools with indoor facilities like Alta, Bingham, Hillcrest, and West Jordan have been held up because there's only so much you can do under a roof. According to Earl Graves, the new track coach at West Jordan, about half of the 46 athletes he had tryout came in with some indoor meet experience. He also has just two seniors back from last year. Still he feels the Jaguars can be competitive, especially in the 100 to 800 sprints and middle distance events. Leading West Jordan's efforts in the sprints will be Ron Wamsley and Brian Justinson. After a meet on Tuesday of this week at Brighton, the Jaguars will resume competition on April 5 at Hillcrest. Action will get underway at 1 :30 p.m. Jordan High's coach Bob Andrus has a good foundation of returning performers to build on.
