Show THE SENTINEL ' y Remember when 40ycmago... hundred tons of rich silver, lead, and antimony ores from Chile arrived in 27 cars at the Midvale plant of the United States Smelting and Refining and Mining Co. this week. Fifteen additional carloads are enroute via the Union Pacific railroad from Los Angeles. The shipment received this week is said to be richer in silver than previous loads, and is from the of Dr. Mauricio holdings Hochschild of Valparaiso, Chile. Prior to the European war, these ores were shipped from Chile, Peru, and Bolivia, to Belgium smelters for refining. About six months after the fall of Belgium to the Germans, these South American ores were transferred to the smelters in the United States and the Midvale plant has been receiving carload shipments for sometime.
