The volume was sponsored and compiled by the county DUP camp. Sandburr camp sold 200 books, largely through the personal efforts of Mrs Swenson. Members of the Sandburr camp are Myrtle B. Bateman, Pearl R. Shaw, Elizabeth B. Sorenson, Irene O. Jensen, Jean B. Whetman, and Harriet P. Robinson. ZJTE SENTINEL Beth Soffe, Midvale, stars in Brigham Young University's athletics for women. Beth, a junior, is a member of the Phi Delta Phi national physical education sorority. She is secretary and treasurer of the local chapter. She won her Women's Athletic Association award sweater and is an outstanding participant in soccer, Softball, volleyball, tennis and basketball. Oxhide overalls, blue or stripe, were selling for 59 cents for men, and 43 cents for boys at Penney's. Super overalls were $1.19 for men and 89 cents for boys. Bluffdale Ward will hold its annual Old Folks social, honoring all persons 60 and over, and partners, widows, and widowers. A hot dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. to all persons 18 and older, to be followed by a program at 2 p.m., according to Warren Casper, chairman. She was cited for excellence in the sale of the last Thursday morning Canyon marooned 170 skiers at Alta and trapped six miners. The men were en route from the Cardiff Mining and Milling Co., and were trapped between two slides about 3:45 a.m. They finally left their three cars, walked over the slide below them, and hiked home. The miners were Walter H. Olsen, Midvale; Clarence Every, Francis D. Roberson, Jerry Prock, Sandy; Dan A. Jacobson, Butler-villand Harvey H. Brown, Draper. Rangers reported that there were seven separate slides ranging in size up to 1 ,000 feet wide and 30 feet deep across the road. Safety patrol given party by Midvalley school PTA - The EAST MIDVALE complete membership, in- cluding 60 students of the Midvalley Elementary safety patrol, was honored with a party Feb. 3, given by the PTA at the school.
