The Stone Cabin Valley horses are being captured by "water trapping" which is a method of attracting the horses into a corral for water and then closing the gates behind them. So far, Nodine said, a custodian has been found for each horse brought off the range. As long as custodians and appropriated funds are' available, the agency will continue to place the horses in good homes. However, if the public shows no interest in adopting the animals or if the program funds run out, the only alternative is to destroy them as humanely as possible, Nodine added.
