Show THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, January 22, 1987 Could Be Classic Confrontation Challenge For Teens - Coping With Stress Please Let It Be A 'Super' Bowl Every year we keep hoping that it really will be super. almost every year, we're disappointed. This year, once again, there's a good chance that it could be a great game. Forget the spread. These are the two best teams in football. This year. They were at midseason and they were on Jan. n when it really counted. Hopefully, they'll prove it Sunday. Personally, I don't think it's the Super Bowl itself that's often such a bust. It's our expectations, fueled by the hoopla and hype. And Games, if the teams are at all equal, turn on one or two key situations. These two teams are about as equal as they can get. Offensively, Denver has an edge through the air. John Elway can make things happen. Most of them good. Phil Simms is more than adequate, but the Giants' bread and butter is on the ground, with Joe Morris the main man. Denver's ground game is not wonderful, but Elway can offset that. teams Defensively, both Channel Station aO have B B O Entertainment O MOVIE: 12:300 Jimmy Swaggart (TH) Down to Earth (TH) NBC News at Sunrise (TH) Mechanical Universe (FR) New Literacy: Intro to of Management 7:000 " 7:300 O QD GD 1:300 2:300 3:000 News Sign Off Sign Off O 3:45 January 22 EVENING 6:000 ONews O Wheel of Fortune O Wild, Wild World of Animals (DBullwinkle 89 Gimme a Break! 6:300 7:00 (MO,TU,WE,TH) O Figuring It Out New Card She-R- a Ocean Blockbusters 8:300 O O Donahue QD Miater Rogers' Neighborhood My Little Pony 69 10:00 O O O ID 69 10:300 O O flD 11:00 O O Scrabble Captain Kangaroo Weekday Sale of the Century Fame, Fortune and Romance TalkAbout Today's Special Falcon Crest Wheel of Fortune Ryan's Hope Voung and the Restless Hooked on Aerobics Hour Magazine All My Children flD BYU Devotional Archives 89 Dallas 11:30 O As the World Turns O (MO,TU,WE,TH) News (FR) Capitol 69 (MO,TU,TH,FR) Carson's Comedy 69 (WE) Can You Be Thinner? 1:00 O Santa Barbara O O General Hospital Guiding Light OITV (D Mister Rogers' Neighborhood O Bewitched 1:300 O 2020 g O Mystery! g 10:000 Q ONews Dr. Who O OD Hooked O Taxi 10:300 1:000 Black Sheep Squadron 69 Sign Off 1:300 True Confessions 1:45 Q Nightwatch 2:300 3:000 4:000 Sign Off News EVENING C9 (WE) French Chef 69 I Dream of Jeannie 2:300 Dating Game (TH) Antiques C9 (FR) Creative Living Hi (MO) International Kitchen CD (TU) We're Cookin' Now CD (WE) Magic of Oil Painting Partridge Family 3:00 Days of Our Uvea Newlywed Game Value TV 1 1 Miater Rogers' Neighborhood (TH) Hooked on Seafood CD (FR) Good Health from Jane Brady's Kitchen CI (MO) Gourmet Cooking (TU) Madeline Cooks CI (WE) Microwave Are for Cooking Dennis the Menace 3:300 Facts of Life Contact Q (TH) We Sing that they ShaH 6:30 O O O f 8:000 4:00 Square One g 0 Difrrent Strokes People's Court 0 Contact II Ohostbusters 10:000 II Boomerang CI 20 Emptor 11:00 AH NHo O ONews Q CBS Late Small Wonder ft the Movies 09 D.C. There. are things I like about both teams-- And there are some things I'm not too crazy about. Both have had players fined for cheap shots. Neither has won a Super Bowl, so we can't say it's anyone's "turn." There's much to admire about both coaches. They've done a heckuva a job. So, I guess I'll just sit back and watch the events of the day unfold. I'll hope that it's a "good" game. That we'll be rewarded for enduring another NFL season. With its ups and downs, blowouts and thrills. As for a prediction, I've got a gut feeling that it'll be a three-poispread. And it may be Denver who wins it. Possibly even in overtime (as punishment for those football haters who just wait for the Super Bowl to finally signal the end of the season) But the day before (when I will care about the outcome) I'll say BYU by five. The game may well turn on a big defensive play. If the defenses do dominate, then on Monday we'll all be groaning about what a boring game it was. It's funny how few people rarely appreciate an efficient defensive team. Oh, we'll cheer mightily for a sack or an interception. We may even appreciate it when the enemy is held to a field goal after a turnover.
