We like to 'make' time. set our clocks ahead an hour to 'get ahead' of time. We pass the 'time' of day. We 'save' time. We say time 'flies', time 'drags', and ever and ever voice the unanswerable query of "Where in the world does time go?" , He L Jan. Tim-buckt- H e each have 24 hours of time every day, but what they mean to us is worlds apart. The time spent w aiting for the dentist or doctor is endless . . . the time spent with the one you love goes like the speed of light. The student thinks some classes are hours long and others like mere minutes. Is it time to get up? Time to lea ve for school or office? Time for lunch? Coffee break? Time to hurry? Time for another cuppa tea? Time to go to bed? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What time is it? I Primitive man was well aware of time. He could read the heavens like an open book and could not only tell the time of day, but what season it was as well. But . . . with a couple of minutes one way or the other . , . there would ha ve been no air crash over Kearns. One minute more or less when a car careened wildly across State Street would have meant an intact gas main and the Don Blair Studio would have been damaged, but not exploded and burned. It's not only today's person, either, who has found himself propelled through the day by time. 'Course, I doubt if Adam and Eve, as they puttered around their Garden, considered this question, but I bet it wasn 't long after they got 'bounced' before time began to be important. Betty was born on Aug. 29th, 1928 in Mayfield, Utah, the daughter of Clair was born in Centerfield, Utah, the son of Julius and Lillies Chapman Westenskow on June 29th, 1922 but resided in Sanpete County during his youth. Over the ages there have been devious and inventive ways of keeping track of it. Burning knotted ropes, water clocks, hour glasses and sun dials are all early man's ways of cutting time into understandable units. And, while we may smile at the taboos primitive man let 'time' set for him, we have to admit that we, too, have our own pecularities about it all. long-distan- hours.
