Show SUNDAY HERALD ncert Association O pens Ro Noted Concert Artists Of Wo rid WilI Perform Here , , - ' - placed a "hold" for next season on Johanna Martzy, one of the outstanding young violinist of the world today, and Eileen Farrell, acknowledged throughout the nation as the "first lady of the soprano artists' ' During the current season; membership in the Community Concert Association has brought local music lovers the following artists: Blanche Thebom, Metropolitan Opera mezzo soprano; Utah Symphony Orchestra under direction of Maurice Abravanel; Germani, organist at the Vatican; Amparo Iturbi, noted pianist; Leonard Warren, Metropolitan baritone honored throughout the world; More than 75 devotees of the fine arts wil gather at the Joseph Smith Building Ballroom at Brig-havfoung University Monday at 7:30 p. m. for the annual kickoff m dinner of the Community Concert Association. The room will be decorated with spring flowers, and at each place setting will stand a miniature musician in blue plastic, characteristic! of the purpose of the organi-zation- -r to bring the finest in music to Utah County. The dinner has been arranged by Mrs,. J. Rulon Morgan, dinner chairman, assisted by her daughter Mrs. Deal Payne. Campaign plans, instructions, and addresses in support of good music will be given by Mrs. W. E. Zino Francescatti, Evans, membership chairman ; Herald R. Clark, president of the association and impresario in Provo for (jlecades; and John Shickling, New York representative of the Community Concert Association. The membership campaign will run from Monday, April 21, through Saturday, April 26, after which no more memberships will be taken. The artist committee will meet immediately after the final results have been listed to choose the series of concerts from a list including the most celebrated names in the musical world. Each membership. . entitles the holder to attend all of the concerts. The association will set up headquarters: in. Roberts Hotel, which will be bperated by Mrs. Paul D. Christiansen as conductor; Gary Graff man, piano virtuoso; Gina Bachauer, famous Greek pianist; and next Friday the association will sponsor three young Utah musicians to promote local artists. The local association, in cooperation with BYU, brings the world's best concert artists and musical groups to Utah County. Through its efforts this county has become one of the outstanding cultural centers in the West. Although the schedule of concerts .cannot be fully arranged until all receipts of the drive are in, the association already has X.
