SWAT team and snipers respond to Park City condos JAY HAMBURGER The Park Record The Park City Police Department on Wednesday arrested a man after a two-hour standoff at the Snow Country Condominiums, at a residence close to City Park, an operation that required a major law enforcement response, evacuations and a road closure. Chief of Police Wade Carpenter said officers were called to the residence, on the 1100 block of Deer Valley Drive, the night before to investigate a complaint of possible domestic violence. He said there was not enough evidence for police action at that time. The suspect, a 36-year-old man whose residence was not immediately known, returned at 3 p.m., kicking the door in, Carpenter said. The woman, who the police said is the man’s wife, called 911. A Utah Highway Patrol report states that witnesses observed the motorcyclist traveling at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic before losing control at mile marker 137 near Lambs Canyon at around 7 p.m. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle, landing in the left side ditch, the report states. The motorcycle skidded across the roadway for several hundred feet before coming to a stop. The man was transported via air ambulance to the University of Utah Hospital in critical con- dition after sustaining head injuries, the report states. He was still listed in critical condition as of Friday morning. The man was not wearing a helmet. Sgt. Nick Street, of the Utah Highway Patrol, said impairment is being investigated as a factor that led to the crash. “We found some things at the scene that led us to believe that impairment was a likely contributor,” he said. The accident closed the westbound lanes of traffic for more than an hour. The lanes were reopened around 8:40 p.m. NOTICE OF PROPOSED TAX INCREASE south summit SCHOOL DISTRICT The SOUTH SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT is proposing to increase its property tax revenue. • The SOUTH SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT tax on a $395,136 residence would increase from $1,279.39 to $1,323.73, which is $44.34 per year. • The SOUTH SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT tax on a $395,136 business would increase from $2,326.17 to $2,406.77, which is $80.60 per year. • If the proposed budget is approved, SOUTH SUMMIT SCHOOL DISTRICT would increase its property tax budgeted revenue by 5.99% above last year’s property tax budgeted revenue excluding new growth. We would not have known about the house we rented w/o her efforts to contact the owner. Solved a very worrisome problem for both us and the home owner--everyone won.” -Zillow SH E I L A HA L L BRANCH BROKER 435.640.7162 | sheila @sheilahall.com 1700 Park Avenue | Park City, Utah 84060 © 2016 BHH Affiliates, LLC.
