Continued from B-3 Miners place second former players graduated, there are younger Miners ready to carry the torch. Murphy and the crew were even discussing the next season during the car ride home following Thursday’s round. “These younger girls like Grace [Donahue] and Mckenzie [Schow] have to step up,” Murphy said. “Sage Roberts and Claire Palmer, too. Hopefully [a second-place finish] inspires them to play more this summer and continue to get better at tournament play over the offseason.” The Miners were hoping for more than a second-place finish in 2017, but the season was not a lost one. Park City was once again the dominant team in Region 10, winning the title by over 300 strokes. “It’s a long season, but there were a lot of sweat and tears that go into a season like this,” Murphy said. “It’s a lot of frustration, but they were able to accomplish really good things. It was a team effort, but we just came up short.” Gunnison 12, Millard 9 1 23 3 Manti 8, Grand 7 5 16 9 Manti 18, Gunnison 1 5 16 10 Results – May 11 6 13 13 First Round 8 11 13 South Summit 16, Parowan 1 8 6 17 Gunnison 15, North Summit 0 9 6 20 Grand County 15, Altamont 2 Enterprise 11, Millard 1 Beaver 5, South Sevier 0 Emery 10, Duchesne 8 Manti 17, Kanab 2 Softball Summit Academy 11, North Sevier 4 Division 2A Tournament One-Loss Bracket Results – May 13 Kanab North Summit Championship Altamont 22, Parowan 17 South Summit 9, Beaver 1 Millard 18, Duchesne 3 One-Loss Bracket North Sevier 16, South Beaver 8, Manti 4 Sevier 6 Results – May 12 Second Round Semifinals South Summit 6, Grand South Summit 6, Beaver 0 County 5 Quarterfinals Beaver 9, Summit Academy 4 South Summit 5, Enterprise Enterprise 12, Emery 5 4 (9 inn) Manti 6, Gunnison 5 Beaver 9, Manti 6 One-Loss Bracket Grand 14, South Sevier 3 Gunnison 5, Enterprise 4 Tanzi Propst/Park Record Park City High School’s Tai Miller drives her ball up the fairway on Hole 10 at Sleepy Ridge during the UHSAA 3A state tournament Thursday.
