Obituary James Raymond Wright Sept. 23, 1932 - March 20, 2017 Together: For those who have found their true partner in love and life James Raymond Wright, 84, peacefully passed away at his home in Sandy on Monday, March 20, of natural causes. His family expresses great appreciation to: Nathan Davis, DPM at Intermountain Healthcare; Landon Dickson, MD at Nephrology Associates of Utah; Scott Stevens, MD at the Intermountain Medical Center; Peter Larcom, MD at IASIS Healthcare; the staff at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Utah; and to Rocky Mountain Care Hospice Services for its employees’ professional and loving care. Jim was born on Sept. 23, 1932, in Park City to Emmett Ralph and Mary Ann Lavin Wright. He was the fourth of six children. He grew up in Salt Lake City and in the beautiful mountains of Park City. He graduated from Park City High School where he was active in sports, excelling in football. Jim worked as a miner in Park City after he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he completed his education at Westminster College and the University of Utah. Jim married Jeanne Collins, on Aug. 11, 1956, in Las Vegas. She is the love of his life and they created a loving family of sons, daughters-in-law, eight grandchildren and their spouses and 13 great-grandchildren. Their circle of love brought many others into their “family.” Jim worked as a science teacher at Woodward Middle School in St. George for two years and at Highland High School in Salt Lake City until he retired. He also taught evening classes at Westminster in Salt Lake City. He was also a builder and enjoyed working James Raymond Wright as a contractor during the summers. Jim was always willing to lend a hand and give wise counsel to those in need. He had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He was a good friend and listener and had an engaging sense of humor. Jim is survived by children Steven (Marsha) Wright of Sandy and Tom (Tanya) Wright of Delta; grandchildren Jim (Karen) Wright, Angela (Ben) Wright Williams, Rachel (Peter) Wright, JR Wright, Stephanie (Mark) Wright Torrie, Matt (Ciara) Wright, Dan Wright, and Cassidy Wright; greatgrandchildren Kaden, Amelie, Ryley, Julien, Kallista, Lucas, Emmett, Miles, Theo, Norah Lee, Gwendolyn, Arden and Elaina; his sister, Margaret (Gilbert) Kimball of Salt Lake City; sisters-in-law LaRae (Bert) Collins Watson of Sandy and Eva (Dan) Naglich Wright of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ellie (John) Forrest and Mary Virginia (David) Cheney; brothers Robert (Kathy) and Dan (Mary, Eva); sisters-in-law Kathy (Robert) Allen Wright, Mary (Dan) Collins Wright and Glenna (Jay) Richardson Collins, and by brothers-in-law John (Ellie) Forrest, David (Mary) Cheney, Gilbert (Margaret) Kimball, Bert (LaRae) Watson and Jay (Glenna) Collins. Graveside services will be held at the Park City Cemetery on Saturday, May 13. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Food Bank of Utah.
