The Deseret News released its allstate team lists for all classifications, and all three Summit County schools were represented. In order to determine who qualifies for the teams, the Deseret News uses a coaches’ vote. According to its website, 16 of the 23 boys’ head coaches on the 2A level submitted votes, while the same amount submitted for the 2A girls. Thirteen of the 22 3A girls’ head coaches submitted their votes. For the girls, it was North Summit, who finished the year with a 23-2 record, leading the way with two 2A first-team selections in Hunter Vernon and Ashlin Blonquist. Vernon was instrumental in the Braves’ run through the season. She unfortunately tore her ACL in the first game of the state playoffs. Blonquist helped shoulder the load in her absence. Other North Summit players to make the lists were Kennady McQueen and Elise Richins, who made the 2A third team. “I was proud of all our girls,” North Summit head coach Jerre Holmes said. “They always played team ball and never worried about individual accolades. I’m happy for these four girls. They have worked hard to improve their skills in order to make our team better.” The South Summit girls’ team, who was the only team to beat North THE COLONY AT WHITE PINE C ANYON TANZI PROPST/PARK RECORD Park City’s Jessica Perry shoots a free throw during a game last season. Summit in the regular season, also received recognition. Senior Sammi Rogers was a force all season long with averages of 16 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.1 blocks per game, good enough to make the first team. Fellow Wildcat Grace Olson also cracked the honorable mention list for the Wildcats. Park City’s Jessica Perry made the 3A all-state second team after averaging 16.6 points and 4.2 steals per game for the Miners. For the boys, both North and South Summit were well represented on the Deseret News’ lists with three selections each. Tyler Coleman of North Summit was the only one from the bunch that qualified for the 2A first team. Cole- man averaged a double-double with 12.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. “He caused a mismatch with many of the teams we played this year,” North Summit Head Coach Aaron Preece said. “He moves very well Please see All-state teams, B-4 | PARK CIT Y U TAH 7,300 ACRES OF PERFECT TURNS TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE.
