The Park City Building Department says the shutdown only impacts the holiday itself. The Building Department would allow work on the 4th of July, though, if a construction crew could show there would be no impacts on the festivities. The annual 4th of July parade descends Main Street and the street is typically crowded throughout the day. Celebrate the Fourth with fireworks There are no bans this year in the city and county JAY HAMBURGER The Park Record Independence Day revelers in Park City and the Snyderville Basin are allowed to celebrate with their own fireworks this year, but they should perhaps make sure they were pur- chased in Utah rather than another state like Wyoming. Leaders in Park City and Summit County did not institute bans in 2016, a result of a reduced danger of wildfires after a spring and early summer with wet weather. In some past years, there has been a ban as officials took formal action to guard against a firework igniting a wildfire. Hugh Daniels, the emergency program manager for Park City, said the vegetation in the city remains green, meaning that it is less likely to ignite than if it was brown in color by the 4th of July. He said there had been discussions with the Park City Fire District about a ban, but the emergency officials opted not to institute one. The community display on Independence Day at Park City Mountain Resort is scheduled as well. “We think we’re good through the 4th of July,” Daniels said. He said officials plan to reassess the situation prior to Pioneer Day on July 24, the state holiday that marks the arrival of the Mormon pioneers. It is another holiday that is widely celebrated with fireworks. State law allows someone to use consumer-grade fireworks like sparklers. There are numerous sorts of fireworks that are prohibited regardless of any local ban. They include popular fireworks like bottle rockets, Roman candles, cherry bombs, firecrackers and M80s. The Park City Fire District said the wildfire danger is not of heightened concern in 2016 after the wet weather. DON’T MASK YOUR PAIN, Behind every successful REALTOR® is a successful team. FIX IT!
