The responsive crowd showed more than passing interest (above) as Christmas clown stopped to ask the small fry if they'd been good boys and girls and what they wanted for Christmas. d iiii .':.! 4 20-de- ep SANTA CLAUS STEALS SHOW . . . N A TURALLY ! Santa Claus and his reindeer were the stars of the show as Provo held it's annual Christmas parade before a tremendous crowd Friday. The jolly visitor from tht North Pole is shown atop the Santa Claus float in photo above. Photos on this page show glimpses of the color, pageantry and enchantment of the yuletide parade, held in the forenoon; The downtown Christmas lights were turned on in an evening ceremony to climax a great day in Provo. vVi'v L-:- r- v., 4 - . t" 'v ;,;; v V I' . Entered by Firm-age'- s, of the float featured a midnight blue on a purple base. - 5 - QUEENS FLOAT Joan Peterson, bearing the title of Miss Merry Christmas, rode! the float which led off the 1957 yule parade. ler attendants are Hannah Oldroyd, left, and Lynn Fechser, right. The float had a snow-whi- te base and bore the sign "Miss Merry Christmas." Miss Peterson wore crimson velvet and ermine; 'her attendants were gowned in green. 4?i It t;, -- - Li J gold-hued'ar- ch 1 r CLOWNS AND COLOR Characters such as the one in foreground added a dash of humor N "Unto You aL Child Is Born," themed the third place float (pictured below) entered in the parade by Sears Roebuck. It featured a group of whiterrobed statues of the wise men about the Christ child. The parade this year was short but of exceptionally good quality. MANGER SCENE - to yule procession.
