Show Q O DECEMBER 10 1950 Provo. Utah County. UUh SUNDAY, SUNDAY HERALD T Doctor Tells Students That Provo Is Rat Infested City Te Dr. Gordon S. Johnson, regional state health director, told a group of Provo high school students Friday that Provo Is a ' . "rat infested city." He explained to the students that 50 per cent of Provo's residents are unaware that this is the case, but those people who go to work early in the morning, or are out late at night can see the rats. He also said that Provo business houses are over-ru- n with the rodents. A rodent control specialist couldoe hired to come to Provo for $150, Dr. Johnson told the students, but Provo has not made any effort in paying this fee and seeing that the city is rid of rats. Dr. Johnson addressed a group of 126 students of home-liviclasses at Provo high school. The students have spent the two months studying special health problems. Rats, he said, are something that no city wants to admit they have. But neglecting the problem of their existence does not insure getting, rid of them. Dr. Johnson's information on the rat problem in Provo prompted questions from many of the students as to why, when such a problem exists, don't Provo officials cut out expenses on such things as Christmas decorations so they could afford the $150 for a rodent specialist. ng C3 Lincoln H.
