'Ji Murdock of Provo, a of the Utah county commis sion from 1938 to 1946 and chairman for" four years of that time, Saturday announced he will again be a candidate for the commission on the Democratic ticket. Mr. Murdock will seek the two-yeterm. Mr. Murdock was first elected to the county commission in 1938, and was for a total of one four-ye- ar term, and two terms of two years each. During his last four years on the commission he served as its chairman. In 1946, when the GOP landslide put Re publicans back in most county of fices by substantial majorities, Mr. Murdock was beaten by only 150 votes. Supporters of Mr. Murdock's candidacy pointed out "Saturday that during his eight years on the county commission, Utah county's government pulled out of debt and established an operating sur plus which it has since been able to maintain. A resident of Provo for nearly 50 years, Mr. Murdock has always been interested in. local and state matters of religious, civic and community welfare. A lifetime of service to the LDS church has included many years as a ward bishop and stake president. Formerly president of the board of directors for the Utah Valley hospital, he is still a member of the board and has played a vital part in bringing modern and adequate hospital service to the people of Central Utah.
