He was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Wilson, and two brothers, Edward and Eugene Wafl, There win be a gathering for family and friends at the Holladay-Brow- n Funeral Home, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, on Friday, April 11th from 6 to 8 pjn. He was a member of the BPOE Tintic Lodge 711 and served as Secretary for 17 years. He was also a member of the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department and United Steel Workers Union 849 where he also served as Secretary. He was a charter member and secretary of the Firebird's Motorcycle Club for over 35 Emma Carlton West 1916-200- 8 Emma Carlton West died March 30, 2008 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo,UT. She was born on Feb. 13, 1916 to Emma Winifred Moore and pram Cash Carlton in : LoveHWY. Her parents, her sister Beulah (Edward) Gwynn, and brothers Horace Carlton and Wilfred (Helen) Carlton have preceded her in death. She married John Franklin "Jack" West on December 7, 1937 in Pasadena, CA. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on August 1, 1980. He died in 2003. They have two childrea-Caro- l (Franklin L) Wilson, and Barbara (Charles M.) Eliason, who survive. Also surviving are three half sisters, Carta (Bryce) Bateman, Lela Mae (Jerry) Hemmann, and Wilda Rae (Reed) WMaker, seven grandchildren: Erin (Mark) Burns, Sara (Darin) Atkinson, John (Crystal) Wilson, Marc (Sunny) Wilson, Stacey (Christopher) Layton, Kimberry Eliason, Benjamin (Jessica) Eliason, 1 . He was born September 26, 1916 in Eureka, Utah to Henry Earl and Delia HERALD and fourteen great grandchildren who have gladdened and enriched her life. Emma has lived a rich and varied life. She swam in the Loven canal until she happened on a dead body. She slept in a tent on the Kenyan savannah. She canned thousands of pounds of Fruita apricots. She piloted a small plane from California to Indiana. She sewed up injured chicks and hauled a horse trailer all over California. And she has beaten a lot of people at cards. On her journey through life she has traveled by n wagon, car, elplane, ephant, jeep, rickshaw, canoe, boat, horse, and finally ambulance. He was born on September 12, 1921, in Center Creek to Hyrum and Lila Thompson Christensen. He graduated from Wasatch High School where he was an in football, basketball and base-baHe married his sweetheart. Norma Rae Lewis on June 8, 1940 in Provo. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LD.S. Temple, September 12, 1950, on LaMar's birthday. He served in many callings, as an active member of the Church of Saints. Jesus Christ of Latter-daHe served his country in the U.S. Army Occupational Forces in Japan during World War II. Dad was a gifted athlete and treasured the years he played on the unbeatable Center Creek basketball team. He had an unforgettable memory and loved sharing the details of his winning shots, and victories. Dad found great joy in cheering on his sons, his grandchUdren, and his favorite high school, college and professional teams. He also enjoyed bowling and playing the harmonica. He was a dedicated farmer, dairy farmer, sheep rancher and registered American Quarter horse breeder. He raised and trained many champion show, per formance, flat racing and chariot racjng horses. In 1983, his team won the World Chariot Racing Championship. Dad was a hard working, perfectionist who took great pride in a job wen done. His most valued moments were spent with his grandchildren feeding a newborn lamb, teaching them how to ride a horse, or taking them on a ride around the farm - this was time weU spent, never time wasted. He was a shining example of reverent faith, unconditional love, honesty, a tireless work ethic, and sheer dedication to the land that he loved and all that is vital to happiness and a long productive life. His powerful energy, working hands, weathered smile and contagious laugh will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved him.
