The vote in the four Midvale districts was: Eisenhower 1199, Stevenson 1108. Except for the presidential vote, Midvale was in the Demo cratic column all the way, with most Democratic candidates running about 175 votes ahead of the Republicans. Alonzo R. Hopkins, candidate for U.S. Senator, led his ticket, followed closely by Laurel J. Brown, West Jordan, candidate for county commissioner, whose Midvale majority over Abram Barker was well over 300 votes. Canning, Midvale fire chief, accompanied by Mrs Canning, left Tuesday morning for Miami, Fla., to attend the convention of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Mr Canning is chairman of exhibits at the convention and said that this year's meeting will be featured by the largest display of fire righting apparatus ever assembl ed at one time, with companies from both the United States and Canada having their equipment on display.
