Finalists from eight stakes each sang two num- bers, one of them original. In charge of the event was Mrs. Nelda Richardson, district chair- man. Gene Whiting of North Jordan stake served as master of ceremonies and introduced the numbers. Quartets competing were classified as ladies, male and mixed. Stakes in the district include West Jordan, Cottonwood, Murray, Mill Creek, North Jordan, East Jordan, Oquirrh and Mt. Jordan. Winners of the were not ansemi-fina- ls nounced at the event but will be notified by mail. The winners will finals compete in the to be held in the Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City, Thursday, March 25 at 8 p.m. and Friday, March 26 at 7:15 p.m. There will be no charge for admission. As a closing feature of the basketball season at Murray High school a tournament was held between the sophomore, junior and senior classes and the faculty. The junior aggregation walked off with meet, defeating the seniors in the final game. In the first game the seniors downed the faculty in a thriller 52 to 51. In the final game the seniors were handicapped with the absence of Edwards, but the juniors won the game by more than ten points.
