Show FRIDAY, AUGUST THE MURRAY EAGLE South Cottonwood Area in the News By Mrs. Leah Johns The South Cottonwood ward chapel was filled to overflowing last Sunday evening, with the relatives and friends of a recently returned missionary, Alan Howe, who gave a report of his mission experiences. The opening song, "O Say What Is Truth," was by the congregation, directed by Earl Ott-lewith Gladys Nichol at the organ. The invocation was by a former bishop, R; Stanley Johns. The congregation sang the sacrament song, "O It Is Wonderful". Following the sacrament service, the presidency of the primary organization, Agnes Faber, Janette Naylor and Evan Green, were released with a vote of thanks for the fine work they have done in the organization. Mrs. Jean Petersen was sustained as the new president and Mrs. Shirley Ottley was sustained as her first counselor. The other counselor and officers will be named later. Mrs. Gladys Nichol was sustained as associate editor of the South Cottonwood Bark, and Mrs. Reva Parenzin was sustained as teacher in the nursery class of the Junior Sunday school. records of two Membership y, MIJIUtAY MUSIC HITS new families were read and the families welcomed into the ward. As a special number a vocal solo, "My Prayer," was sung by Gwen French of Murray, accompanied by her sister, Jacqueline French. Elder Howe's talk followed. The closing song was a solo by Miss French, after which Myron Ottley gave the closing prayer. Among the visitors at the service were former missionary friends and companions of Elder Howe, and one young couple from the mission who are visiting in Utah. Elder Howe labored in the Central Atlantic States mission. Visiting in the community as guests of their aunt, Mrs. Rena Wheeler, are Mr. and Mrs. Trimble Doty and son of Bellflower, Calif. Terry of East Midvale visited last Sun day at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Terry, and attended church in the ward that evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Shelton and daughter, Marvetta, returned Saturday from a two weeks' vacation at Fish Lake, where they acquaired a nice tan and caught several fine fish, one weighing 10 pounds and one weighing 8 pounds. A Mere Ik e On Monday evening, July 30th, the South Cottonwood Lions held a family party at The Spruces in Big Cottonwood canyon.
