"My ; .. t 368th FW Office of Public Affairs i Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm separated many husbands and wives for more than six months, but it also brought one couple together and made them husband and wife. TSgt. Paul and Pamela Grant, who for the first didn't meet seven months they knew each other, kindled a romance through letters they wrote as Operation Desert Storm pen pals. The relationship began after Paul picked up. and then answered, an ;A.ny Servicemember" letter Pamela had written while the sergeant was deployed with the 388th Fighter Wing for operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The two were married during a ceremony in Gainseville, Ga. recently. This could have been the happy ending that never happened because Pam almost didn't mail that first letter. "I just thought about writing the letter one day, but I didn't know how to address it," Pam said. "I called the USO and got a good address, but was afraid to send it because I'm a little mom and sister were there and they were tickled just watching me pace back and forth." Just like the letters, the two didn't have any problems hitting it off in person either. Paul, who had taken a month's leave, ended up visiting for three and a half weeks. After that, the two said they . : e couldn't bear to be apart. They've got the telephone bills to prove it some as high as $250. A couple of months ago, Paul got leave again and once again headed to Georgia. This time it was to attend his own wedding. But because of an overbooked flight, things almost had to be delayed.
