As the country salutes you on Armed Forces Day. so do I. You can take pride in the part you played in liberating the people of Kuwait. You can take pride in America's renewed patriotism. And you can take pride in the job you do every day defending this country's liberties. You are a member of a truly unique, selfless profession. You are America's heroes. The American people were reminded of that many times this past year, as your sacrifices made the news. Your talents, abilities and outstanding performances were visible to everyone; especially me. The historic triumph of Operation Desert Storm has helped to renew our patriotism, and it had reminded us of something that you have never forgotten that there are principles worth fighting for, and there are times when we have no choice but to defend them by force of arms. Your dedicated service stands as irrefutable testimony to all nations of America's strength and of her unshakable resolve to uphold democratic ideals and respect for the rule of law.
