Today, the adjustment problems of many Vietnam veterans have been compounded by frustration over the lack of public support and recognition of their sacrifice. Mr. Warren believes that the Vietnam protests stemmed from a fundamental misunderstanding in America of what war is all about. He quoted the Prussian strategist Karl von Qausewitz, who said that success in war depends upon the "remarkable trinity -- the people, the army and the government." That wisdom was simply forgotten during Vietnam, Mr. Warren said.
