Absent is the experimental noise of their pioneering ancestors, but each song is tightly crafted, Intelligent and full of heart. Lead singer Caithlin De Marrais dominates with pleasingly vocals reminiscent of riot grrl-er- a bands such as Seven Year Bitch and Bikini Kill (though De Marrais pitches a less aggressive, more melodic tone). Fellow members William Kuehn and Kyle Fischer contribute their snapping drums and ringing guitar to round things out. OK, so this is the first game I have ever reviewed, plus 1 barely understand my Apple Macintosh from 1984, so if you are actually going to read on, just bear with me. I will review this album I mean game to the best of my technology-inep- t abilities. Here it goes... At "Metroid Prime's" beginning, the player is immediately c immersed into a and vast realm aboard a space station. The station has been sci-f- i hijacked by vermin this all takes place in the distant quadrants of deep space. The mission is to seek out the disturbance and destroy it. Although they could just send in countless amounts of military personnel, they have left this entirely in the hands of one Henry J. Metroid. Just kidding, there is no Henry J. It's just Metroid. Editor's note: Her name is Samus and she's in a special suit. In the far nether regions of Tallon IV, cockroaches and other nefarious entities have taken over and brutally killed the work-- , ers on this space station. Metroid has been sent to alleviate the disturbance and restore power to the futuristic government by which she was sent...I think. I didn't get that far. Anyway, Metroid is a sort of a future Orkin Man, equipped with laser gun, laser cannon and electric missiles. But poor Metroid's task is not an easy one. She has been sent to kill all those nasty space bugs and make an evil-fre- e station. Since this is the game's basic fundamental, the game is fashion, played in a to it computmaking comparable er greats like "Doom," "Quake" or even "Quake II." The player is Metroid in a perspective, which is cool because she has all of these robotic technological advancements. But the game is not so robotic that it consumes the missions and makes the game boring. Far from it. There is still a very human element, making this game a blast to play. This space realm is filled with dark-sidecreatures and agendas. The complex missions at hand surpass any previous gaming agenda, like getting poor Frogger across the street before he gets squashed by the oncoming cars. This game is so realistic, I nearly shit myself. Luckily, I life-lik- e, d realized that my TV was only large and my overloaded senses relaxed when realized I was just squinting at a very tiny screen. Once I overcame the fact that the GameCube controller has so damn many buttons (in fact, it has 10 more than the Atari's universal red button), I was excited to find out what each one could make Metroid do.
