The Pacific Division of the conference has been dominated by Utah. And the Utes are equal opportunity bullies. Both the men's and women's basketball teams have been abusing conference opponents. Coach Rick Majerus and his boys haven't lost a game yet in WAC play and, barring an act of God, they won't. Utah has won 17 straight and, after falling out of the top 25 rankings early in the season, is ranked No. 12. "We wanted to win the conference championship," said Majerus. "That was our No. goal." An undefeated conference season would be a first in Utah history, and would make the WAC Tournament 1 9 14 Last Week's Winner: Alex Zlotnikow (13-3- next week seem almost pointless. A loss in the tournament is unlikely anyway, but it wouldn't represent the way things are in the conference. On the far side of the gender gap, the Utah women are also on the brink of a regular season title. The women's only loss came in the first game of the WAC season at BYU. Since then, they have won n straight, most of them easily. If the Utes get a win at UTEP on Thursday, they are guaranteed at least half of the season title. If they beat second-place New Mexico on Saturday, they own it outright. "We've known this is where wc should be," said Lori Red. The Utah women have won both the regular season and WAC tournament title in the same year. This year could be it. "I think the championship game will be Utah and Colorado State," said Utc forward Lindsay Sodja. What makes this season so remarkable is that neither team from Utah was supposed to do much this year. Majerus lost Mike Dolcac to the NBA, Britton Johnson, Trace Caton and Jon Carlisle to LDS missions, and two more players to transfers. Women's head coach Elaine Elliott lost four of her starters at the end of the last season and started this year with no seniors. For the first half of the year, Elliott almost refused to comment on what her squad would do this season. Now two teams that were supposed to be starting over this year arc getting ready to collect the WAC titles. And nobody else can have one. o W 12 L W L Colorado St. o 27 1 3 Rice 9 8 TCU 7 5 UNLV 6 4 6 8 14 15 15 15 2 10 12 10 9 9 9 18 18 19 SMU Tulsa Wyoming Air Force for Big B&D Burgers Wally Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah Utah.
