In the only scene with good acting, the misfit is frustrated at the VA hospital when the soonest appointment he can get is two weeks away. military-philcmisf- Out of nowhere, a clunky "love" scene shows up, involving a woman who is either his wife, girlfriend, friend or neighborhood hooker. One never finds out. But even within the "love" scene itself, the film has some ex-wif- e, very well-crafte- d images that narrate the misfit's mind and the anger of being misunderstood, illustrating work that could evolve to be filmmaking genius. For this reason, the following ITffl ;ST0BBBT MM SHUT OH IBfiDBfl ALP 4tf6 TMIM disclaimer is necessary: There is natural hesitance for any film buff to delve into the "problems" of any art film. Although most of the movie going public (myself included) wouldn't keep Traum in their video collection, it is unfair to pit any studentexperimental film against the ones that play at Trolley Corners or even a The Tower. Critiquing a work like this negatively is as mature as making fun of the way some- one dances. Yes, I could list the ways the ambiguity interferes with the story, or mention the terrible acting. But can they be mentioned if these same, "faults" are in fact choices of an artist's No. These films on stand alone and should be judged individually, despite my "two 12 frogs". I'll save the real venom for more noteworthy causes, like why some of the movies that made it to Trolley Corners actually made it to Trolley Corners. Tyrone is about a tycoon interested in purchasing a minor league baseball field. Concerned for her, he made sure she was taken care of." Taken care of she was. An older man (presumably the father) took a young woman (presumably his daughter possibly with child) to the edge of a seaside cliff and sent her gravity's way to a watery grave. Yet while down in the depths, she not only defies drowning, but lace traipses around in her shawl, gathering shells and mar- veling at her new aquatic existence. Or it might be just plain confusing. If you insist on characters playing clearly defined roles in a plot that is somewhat predictable, or if you're like the cat that was so troubled by curiosity that it went to great lengths to rid itself, you may have no tolerance for this film. If you can handle a little ambiguity, you'll be more patient in waiting for clues that are never really surface. Adapted from : o". . business men, are subtly hilarious characters. Even when their actions are exaggerated, they come across as kooky, stereotypical, and ideal, but not unrealistic. The characters are hilarious and the actors perform very well. I'm not positive, though, as to what Ty says or means at the end. If he's says the initials of his first name, it's a dumb line (or I just don't get it). Overall, the story has great dialogue, cohe-sivenes- s, and flare. Its kooky reality achieves the rare yet pleasant balance of the amusing and magical with the believable.
