The officers drove west on American Fork's Main Street toward Lehi, but lost the truck near the Millpond. A few minutes later, they spotted the truck', along with its d mud, missing rear bumper and the three shivering girls in the back. Officers stopped the man and informed him that it was illegal to have unrestrained passengers in the back of a moving pickup truck and chastised him for, the.unsafe conditions of the vehicle, including the broken windshield. As one can imagine, officers checked for outstanding warrants and found one, for which the American Fork man was booked into the Utah County Jail; the suspect was also cited for having an unsafe vehicle and no proof of insurance. An East Carbon man, stopped for improper registration in his vehicle, was also found to be driving without insurance and without a valid driver's license. What he didn't have, however, wasn't as good as what he did have with him. When the man consented to a search of the vehicle, officers found methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. The driver and two passengers were all booked into the county jail on possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia; the driver also incurred a citation for the registration prob- facility. i '.,' ; jj?"' Aid The three will stay at the school until 3 p.m., when they are relieved by the night crew who comes from 3 until 7:30 p.m. With district-wid- e cuts in hours this year, the help has come at a good time for Sego Lily. Harvey is free to spend his time taking care of the more difficult tasks such as changing light bulbs, and running the heavy equipment. The other thing the extra help has provided is an opportunity for Harvey to take care of the really important things. As he stands in the hallway, Harvey suddenly finds a small pair of arms wrapped around his legs. A young student has come to him with a crisis. Her bouncing ball won't bounce anymore. She follows him down the hall to the pump by the side door. "What's the matter?" he asks her, "aren't you jumping rope anymore?" "No," she giggles. "Too much jump rope." He inflates the ball and discovers a small leak. Harvey explains that the ball isn't going to stay up very long, so she'd better run along and play with it quick. She takes the ball arid bounces out the door with a grin on her face. Officers found the suspect vehicle and observed the vehicle operator's erratic driving for several blocks before stopping the car. Failing both field sobriety and breath tests, the Midvale man was cited with DUI and open container violations; one passenger also received an open container citation. For the other passenger in the back seat, however, things were more complicated. With no identification on his person, the man gave officers a fictitious name, which added to the open container violation, not to mention about $3,000 in outstanding warrants, was enough to earn the Sandy man accommodations in the Utah County Jail. 0 Planning Continued from front page The project engineer did not disagree with these comments but pointed out that because of the size of the lot, the location of the storm drain and the building's relationship to 500 East, the design he presented was the most practical and customer accessible. He also noted that the Roller Mills, and Albertson's design was an exception to the design of the buildings on Main Street and 850 East rather than the rule. Commissioners also wanted changes made to Plat D of Mel Frandsen's Stagecoach Crossing development, a planned residential development (PRD) located at 1300rW. 70Q South, ., redesign the lots in the PRD, to reduce the number of lots by five and provide some room for; a commdnity park.
