Show New Utah! - November PG Players 'On Golden Pond' By Russ Daiv between the portrayals by the local actors and the n actors of the film. Imagine spending a summer in backwoods Maine in a cabin nestled among the trees surrounding a small lake. The picturesque scene comes alive in the Pleasant Grove Players' reprise of On Golden Pond, the Ernest Thompson comedy made popular by Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn and Jane Fonda dn the silver Veteran Keith Christeson takes on the role of octogenarian Norman Thayer, obsessed with what, he considers to be his imminent demise. Having seen Christeson in a variety of roles in several different productions, I was especially moved by two scenes in particular where he shows great emotion in his character. As he explains to his wife, Ethel, about getting lost in the actor-direct- screen. the Watching Pleasant Grove production, one can see some , interesting similarities I I captures slice of Americana woods, Christeson as Thayer ly daughter Chelsea. Purdie is hilarious in sense of vulnerability. Claudine Booth does the same thing near then end when Norman appears to be dying. The love of a lifetime together, her fear of being alone and her own vulnerability show through clearly in her portray- characterization, especially in his snorting laughter, which elicited a hearty response from the audience members each time. The only negative aspect of his portrayal was that we didn't get to see him enough. Other actors in the play include Kaye Pead as Chelsea, demonstrates a remarkable well-know- 18, 1998 - Co-st- ar al. ing is appropriate. Audience members who have trouble hearing will want to sit at the front of the theater in order to catch some of the dialogue, which is unamplified, but adequate for the location. Take a few minutes and cut uT carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower and celery and store them in plastic bags in the fridge. You can serve them with cheese dips; use the kind that are made with yogurt and cheese. Fruits also make good snacks. Slice up some apples or bananas and spread them with peanut butter (be sure to brush afterwards). If you have a toddler, grapes are okay, as long as you cut them up to avoid choking. Avoid snacking on chewy, sticky foods. Such foods as candy, candy-coate- d nuts, sticky dry cereal, raisins and dry fruit cling to the teeth. Also avoid sipping sugary drinks throughout the day.
