Show ..it.H,n Lady tamers qualify for state Transp0rta,i0n house slated 0pen If i.w,i:rf Lehi The Pioneers traveled to Vernal Oct. 14 to compete in the Region 10 meet. The Lady Pioneers qualified for state by beating Uintah by two points. Senior Holly Cummings led the race. With 400 meters to go she had a sciatic nerve cramp and was forced to stop and rub it out. At that point she was passed by both a Uintah and Wasatch girl. Holly finished first for her team with a time of 21:27, finishing third over- tf'i IV Cf" -- FA all. Second for the team with a very impressive race was sophomore Tiffany Barker. Her time was 22:43. Third was senior Tricia Henrie with a time of 23:47. Tricia has worked hard this season and steadily improved. Fourth with the race of her senior Natalie life was Richins. Natalie's time was 23:53, placing her 17th overall. Fifth was sophomore Jamie Elmer with a time of 24:05. Sixth for the team was senior Kassey Korous, a big contributor to the team with a time of 24:54. Rounding out the varsity team was Autumn Taylor, also a senior, with a time of 25:25. Freshman Kelly Cummings followed with a time of 26:52 and Sarah Davis 30:45. On the boys' side, first for the Pioneers and eighth overall was sophomore Matt Dor-to- n with a time of 17:49. Second for the team was senior Tyson Peterson with a time of 18:09. He is new to the team this year. Third was Lex Grimley, a w ft Lj the region meet took home medals and included, L to R: sophomore Tiffany Barker, eighth place; sophomore Matt Dorton, eighth place; and senior Holly Cummings, third place. The top 10 runners in veteran since ninth grade. His time was 18:16. Fourth with a time of 18:53 was a new sopho- this year who moved from more, Jared Haws. Fifth was senior Ben Acker-mawith a time of 18:58. He is also a new member of the team this year., Sixth was Eric Lew, a senior, with a time of 19:18. Rounding out the top seven and varsity team was Brandon McLaughlin, a new sophomore, with an impressive time n City. The top 10 individuals will participate at state, making it possible for Matt Dorton to travel along with the girls team and compete as an individual. The state meet will be held this afternoon at Sugar House Park. The 3A girls will compete at 1:30 p.m. and the 3A of 19:43.
