Show Diabetes education classes to be offered at A.F. Hospital American Fork Hospital will hold four sessions of diabetes education classes between now and the end of the year. The classes include instruction on basic pathophysiology of diabetes, blood glucose testing, medication usage and theory, exercise planning, sick day management, complications and Standards of Care from the American Diabetes Association. Instructors include certified diabetes educators (both registered nurses and registered dieticians), a social worker, a pharmacist and an exercise specialist. Classes are scheduled for the following times and places: Sept. 1,8, 15 and 29 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Small Conference Room -- Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27 -- 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Small Conference Room Nov.3,10,17and 24 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Small Conference Room Dec. 1, 8 and 15 - 6 to 8:30 p.m., Board Room The cost for the classes is $100, which may be billable to insurance. Special arrangements will be made to assist wit the class fee if necessary. This series of classes has met the national standard for diabetes patient education and is a recognized program of the American Diabetes Association. Our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Marilyn Ramsay, 62, ,ff?- - returned to her HeavenFather ly August 21, 1998 in Salt Lake City after a long battle with cancer. She was born March 6, 1936 in Lehi, Utah to Harold Vincent and Helen Clarke Ramsay. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marilyn's great love in life was music. She played the flute and piano and had a beautiful contralto voice. At American Fork High School, she played in band and orchestra and sang in the choir and solo perfor- mances. At Brigham Young University, she sang in the Women's Chorus and in solo performances, including roles in "The Messiah." She graduated from BYU in 1958 in elementary education and music, following which she taught in elementary schools in Bayli R. Company and with several major choral groups in the Salt Lake area. She continued solo performances until her illness made this no longer possible. She has gone to sing in a heavenly choir. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen R. Anderson; her brother-in-law- , C. Paul Ander- son of Roy; and by three nieces and a nephew, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to express appreciation to the nurses and staff at Salt Lake Nursing and Rehab Center and to the hospice nurses and workers at Community Nursing for their excellent care for Marilyn. Services will be held Saturday, August 29 at 11 a.m. at the Ramsay plot in the American Fork Cemetery where the interment will follow. She was born July 19, 1910 in Annabella, the Utah, daughter of P. Hyrum and Rosetta Roberts Thurston. She married Alvin Taylor "Bud" Farnsworth July 19, 1934 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Oct. 21, 1972. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She was employed by ZCMI for over 30 years. She was an avid gardener and won awards for her beautiful yard and gardens. She is survived by two sons, Melvin T. (Renee) Farnsworth of Provo and Newell K. (Pat) Farnsworth of Alpine; 14 grandchildren; and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Terry.
