Sorenson will honor her on her 90th birthday with a family dinner and celebration on Aug. 29. An open house, in conjunction with her grandson, Ryan, who is leaving to serve an LDS mission in the Philippines, will be held on Aug. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at her son's home, 243 E. Center, Lin-do- ' ' I n. Amanda Wild, Travis Farnsworth Travis Farnsworth to wed Amanda Wild Friday Mr. and Mrs. Farrin Wild of American Fork are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Amanda, to Travis Farnsworth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Farnsworth of Lehi. The couple will exchange vows in the Hillcrest 5th Ward in American Fork on Aug. 28. The newlyweds will be honored at a reception that evening from 7 to 9 at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 1120 N. 150 West, American Fork. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Florence was born Aug. 30, 1908 in Barnum, Minn., to William and Mary Hanson. She was the middle of nine children, all of whom have passed away. She moved with her family to International Falls, Minn., where she spent most of her younger years. The family moved to Duluth, Minn., where she joined the LDS Church. She was instrumental in bringing her mother and several brothers and sisters into the LDS Church. She married Ferril M. Sorenson Feb. 2, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They met while Ferril was serving in the Central States Mission. After completing his education, Ferril returned to Duluth to court and ask her to marry him. They settled in Spring City. They subsequently moved to Provo and then to American Fork in 1943. Florence has always been active in the LDS Church, serving in Primary, Sunday School and her first love, the Relief Society. Amy's motto is, "if things don't work, just laugh and try again." president, Amy She and her husband served many years in the Provo Temple, a calling she also enjoyed. On June 1, 1990 she lost her husband after 55 years of marriage. Her children are: David M. (Joan) Provo; Sorenson, Melisande Smuin, Orem; Kenneth R. (Connie) Sorenson, Lin-doFerril M. (Denise) Sorenson, St. Charles, Mo. She has 18 n; Amy's outlook on life, plus her bubbly and cheery attitude, has helped her succeed in many aspects of her life. Besides being studentbody president, Amy is a member of the National Honor Society and the debate team. She has been involved in her school student councils since elementary school and has achieved the high honor roll every year. Last year, Amy represented Lehi High at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Gowans feted by ag teachers Lone Peak agricultural education teacher and FFA advisor Michael Gowans of Cedar Valley has been named the Young Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the second consecutive time by the Utah Vocational Agriculture Teacher Association. This award recognizes teachers whose programs have excelled during their first five years teaching. Gowans taught at PGHS for three years before moving to Lone Peak when it S ages 4- - 14 1 f . Marriner and Joyce were married Sept. 1, 1948. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have been blessed with five children, 14 grandchildren Scadden school projects such as "Valentine's for the Elderly", and "Quarters for Christmas." In her free time, Amy enjoys boating, being in the hiking, rappelling, mountain biking, running, skiing, and being with her family and friends. The prospective groom is the son of Lee and Janine Barnes, also of Lehi. Attending the bride will be Mitchells note 50th opened. He will now be considered for the national award, which will be announced in December. A technical foundation based upon modern dance technique is taught to provide the children with skills needed to progress as dancers. Amy has received the National English Merit Award, the National Youth Leadership Award, and she is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She is currently taking several advanced placement classes and maintains a 4.0 grade point average. In religious activities, Amy is an active member of the Lehi Chappie Valley Ward. She currently serves in her Laurel's class presidency and, in the past, has participated in numerous church service projects. Community activities find Amy serving as a judge on the Lehi City Youth Court. She has also volunteered her time helping at a local homeless shelter, participated in the national "Make a Difference Day," and helped with Sorenson Society.
