Max and Diana Pitcher of Alpine will share their stories of the event Ward chapel.. in a special fireside Sunday in the Lehi th Fireside to feature trek participants The Lehi 6th Ward will host a fireside featuring a account of the 1997 commemorative trek during the sesquicentennial year. The fireside will be held Sunday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Ward Lehi chapel, 120 W. 200 South. Everyone 18 and over is invited to attend. Guest speakers will be Max and Diana Pitcher of Alpine, who participated in the recreation of the original pioneer trek in 1847. Their daughter, Andy, will introduce the program by performing on the dulcimer, a forerunner of the piano. The Pitchers contacted an Amish friend who built a replica of a prairie schooner for the trek; Max had a second wagon built in order to allow another family to join in the trek. Melvin Anderson of Lehi also built two handcarts for participants to use in the event.
